Grow A Successful Garden By Following These Hints

By Jeff

Pay close attention to your organic garden, and take the absolute best care of it that you possibly can. Smart organic gardening can com in handy here. You have the ability to produce healthy, delicious produce on your own property. Follow this advice and your organic garden will soon be flourishing above the rest!

Try not to cause shock to your plants by gradually changing their conditions and temperature. Put them outdoors in the sun for no more than two hours the first day. Over the course of a week, slowly increase the amount of time that you leave them outside. Hopefully, after about a week or so, your plants should have adjusted to the change. Now you can transplant them without any worries.

If you work with clay soil, you have probably found using a shovel very frustrating and exhausting. One way to get around this problem is to coat the shovel with wax. Use a clean cloth to spread the wax evenly. Not only will the clay slide off the surface, but it will keep the end from rusting.

A handy trick is to turn the handle on a tool that you use often into a makeshift ruler. Tools with long handles, such as a shovel or rake, are absolutely perfect for this job, and make your workload a little bit smaller. Put the handles down and measure them with a measuring tape. Then, transfer the measurements to the handle using a permanent marker. Now, the next time you do work in the garden, you’ll actually have a ruler at your fingertips.

The correct soil can make a big difference in how your garden grows. The kind of plants you want in your garden should let you know what kind of soil you need to get. It’s also possible to make a fabricated area that contains only one type of soil.

If your plants do not grown very tall, try buying some knee pads used for gardening. Spending lots of time on your knees while gardening can injure them and create lasting pain. Having a good pair of knee pads will cushion your knees in comfort.

If you want an organic way to weed your garden, try “boiling” them. A pot of boiling hot water can be one of the most safe weed destroyers. Douse the weeds with this pot, just avoid the nearby plants. The roots of the weeds are damaged by the boiling water which, in turn, inhibits further growth.

Be vigilant about keeping moisture off your plants. If your plants get too moist, they may get sick or infested with parasites. In fact, fungi love a wet plant and can cause a great deal of damage. Sprays and liquids exist that are perfect for killing the fungi, but be sure you use it on the area before the fungi actually appear.

Do you ever wish that your fresh mint leaves would not grow as quickly and overcome your garden? Control their expansion by confining them to a large pot. The container can be planted in the ground, and it will still prevent the plant from dominating the garden.

As you can see from the previous list of tips, organic gardening can really make a difference in the freshness and nutrients of your produce. If you are willing to put in the effort, you will enjoy a wonderful harvest from your own garden.
